If you’re not from south Texas, I mean like deep south, then you have no clue what to do when you come to South Padre Island for Spring Break. Yes, that’s deep south Texas, not San Antonio or Corpus.
Drinking in the Valley is a risky situation because only certain spots can hit the spot. For you, I have gone to my fair share of bars and clubs and I’ve narrowed it down to 3 MUST GO TO spots to get these specific cocktails!
Suerte: Adios Motherfucker
The name says it all. It’s a drink that will make you forget… everything… This is my go to drink at Suerte because it’s strong, burns your throat but promises a good time. This blue drink doesn’t look intimidating but it is a strong punch dressed in blue and trechas. If you think this is too much of a “sissy” drink, try el borracho, you won’t be complaining then ?
Wanna Wanna: Margarita
I’ve searched high and low for the perfect margarita but I always came up short. It was either the mix was too sweet or too tart, the ice to drink ratio was off or the tequila measurement was not up to borracha standards. I’ve settled on drinks from Applebees and sub par bars in the area until I discovered the margarita at Wanna Wanna. This drink is the perfect balance between tequila and margarita mix. The mix is also just perfect, not too sweet, not too tart. If you’re looking to get drunk ocean side, this drink is for you.
University Draft House: Moontang
The Moontang is a fun twist on the tang we once drank as kids. I love how we get to enjoy Tang even as an adult and have a little fun with it too. This orange concoction is a little tart and a lot of alcohol. Add a little trechas in it and it is now perfect.
These are my must have drinks in the valley. They’re a sure way to get you loose and having fun within the first drink.
Try these out and let me know if you love or hate them!
