Qweenie Turns One!

Qweenie turned one and we had to celebrate! If you haven’t heard of Qweenie than let me tell you all the amazingness that is Qweenie. It is a gourmet hot dog truck that has become so popular in the RGV and I promise you these are dogs you don’t want to miss out on.

I recently had Kim Avila, co-owner of Qweenie, on the podcast The Cheez with Karla J and we talked about the reality of owning a food truck. In the episode you can also get a little feel for who Kim is and what the idea was behind creating Qweenie.

I wanted to give you all a recap of their anniversary celebration because if you didn’t go, you missed out.

Qweenie’s anniversary was hosted at the Reserve at Social club in Edinburg, TX and I want you all to know that I definitely want to go back there. That lounge looked so nice and it seemed like a place I want to hang out at.

There were pop up shops at the event, they had The Makeup Studio by Trinidad, Cereal Arcade and Master Piece Boutique. Two of the shops focused on apparel where as The Makeup Studio sells cosmetics from different indie and online only brands.

I loved the small details that Qweenie put into their anniversary party because they did have a special cocktail just for their event and it was very fitting. It was a pink grapefruit type spritzer rimmed with pink coarse sugar. It was very brunch-esque and that cocktail was something I’d ask for while I day drink.

Overall Qweenie’s anniversary party was fun and had a positive vibe. People were so excited and I got to eat double the hot dogs because they had a BOGO special going on!

If you have yet to try Qweenie follow them on instagram so you can find their location of the day and get your hands on a delicious hot dog.

I recommend the Elote Dog, Taco Dog, or their Hot Cheetos and Cheese Dog! Those are my favorite!

What’s your favorite hot dog?
