What’s the Best Pitcher Downtown Mcallen?

I love going out and getting a little tipsy. The way I normally do this is by buying the largest drink I can find and that usually is a cocktail served in a pitcher. If you’ve never gone out and gotten yourself a pitcher you don’t know what you’re missing! If you’re still a little skeptical about it, a friend and I went ahead and pitted three pitchers from three different bars against each other and tried to find out which one was the biggest bang for your buck!

STREET SHOT

Street Shot was our first stop and they have litros instead of pitchers but they’re the same amount of ounces as any pitcher downtown so I went ahead and put it in the competition. The litro was very tasty but you could only taste the watermelon liquor but it did taste like a typical Mexican Lollipop cocktail. Keep in mind at Street Shot, you can turn any shot into a litro for just $10! THat’s what we did here, it wasn’t on their litro menu but it is on their shot menu.

TASTE: 9/10

MIXER TO LIQUOR RATIO: 8/10

PRICE: 8/10

  • .31 cents per ounce

OVERALL: 8.3

THIRSTY MONKEY

We had to hunt this one down because we assumed since Thirsty Monkey has many sister bars all of them would carry pitchers but they don’t. Thirsty Monkey has only 4 flavors when it comes to pitchers and for some reason, the Mexican Lollipop wasn’t on the menu but we knew they had that flavor. Once we tried the pitcher we realized it’s not your typical Mexican Lollipop cocktail because it doesn’t really have the correct flavor. It has a little more squirt in it than we’d like and needed a bit more chamoy. The thing that caught our eye was that their pitcher was $6! I’ve never seen a pitcher that inexpensive so I got very excited!

TASTE: 6/10

MIXER TO LIQUOR RATIO: 8/10

  • could taste the liquor even though it didn’t get the flavor perfectly.

PRICE: 10/10

  • .19 cents per ounce

OVERALL: 8

BRUJERIA ULTRA DISCOTHEQUE

Brujeria is known for their pitchers because they have so many but we obviously had to get their Mexican Lollipop. I’ve talked about one of their favorites before but never compared with another. Brujeria has probably gotten the closest to getting the Mexican Lollipop down, it’s just a little more on the pineapple side than watermelon. It is very fruity and you can’t taste the alcohol but my friend says that you’ll be lit by the end of it.  This pitcher was the only one that cared about presentation, a slice of pineapple and a tamarindo stick garnished the pitcher but the $15 price point low key hurt my heart.

TASTE: 8/10

  • just a little too sweet for my taste.

MIXER TO LIQUOR RATIO: 6/10

PRICE: 6/10

  • .47 cents per ounce

OVERALL: 6.7

The winner is Street Shot because flavor was great and price was right in the middle of the other two. Although that is the winner that doesn’t mean the other two aren’t delicious! They are but overall Street Shot won.

Let me know what where you get your favorite pitcher/litro at.
