With 50+ hour work weeks, lack of sleep, trying to start my business and raising two dogs; that is the reason for my insanity. I’ve always struggled with sleeping at night because I’m such a night owl which doesn’t help when I have to be up at 7 am the next day. I’ve tried sleeping pills, melatonin and finally CBD oil.
Before we begin, let’s get real geeky and let me give you a quick rundown of my research. Please know that I am in no way, shape or form a professional on this so please do your own research. Cannabidiol or CBD is something found in the cannabis plant aka the weed plant. CBD is not psychoactive, which means it doesn’t give you that “high” effect that marijuana does. CBD helps with pain relief, anxiety and depression. It can also help with heart health and help alleviate cancer symptoms. Basically, CBD does it all! CBD relaxes you, much like the effect that weed gives you without that “high” effect which is why I use CBD. I already have high anxiety which means I can’t handle the effects of THC (weed) but I definitely want to relax and chill out for a bit.
I first got my hands on CBD about a year ago when I got a free CBD infused tea sample. That day I had already slept for 11+ hours (don’t judge me) then I drank that tea and boom! Out like a light again. That was when I knew I needed to get more CBD tea.
At the time I didn’t know there were different forms of CBD so I was on the hunt for tea, then I found a local hemp shop dedicated to only CBD products. They had everything I could possibly imagine. Drops, gummies, balms, and even products for my fur baby (which I didn’t buy because I’m not ready to get him on that)! I ended up buying CBD drops because I assumed it’d be easier for me to use rather than drinking tea multiple times a week or eating gummies.
CBD drops are easy to use because there are a couple of ways to use it. You can place the drops in your drink, which is what I occasionally do. I have flavorless drops which allows me to add them to any drink I’d like or the way I prefer to do it, I place the drops beneath my tongue. I was told this was the quickest way to have the CBD enter your bloodstream, is this true? Who knows!
After switching to CBD, my sleeping has improved! I’ve been sleeping deeper while still being able to wake up and not feel drowsy the next morning. I wake up and my body feels well rested and I rarely wake up in the middle of the night because of tossing and turning.
A big plus that I had completely forgotten about was the way it helps alleviate PMS symptoms! I started using CBD consistently for about a month and a half and my cycle’s usual symptoms were either completely gone or mild. I barely even realized what time of the month it was until my phone reminded me about Aunt Flo.
After trying CBD, I can honestly say that it is totally worth it! All the hype is necessary when dealing with CBD. It not only has helped me with sleeping but it also has made my period that much more bearable. If you’re on the fence about CBD, I suggest you try it slowly if you don’t know how it will affect you and your body.
If you try it or have tried it, let me know your experience with it. Do you love it? Or hate it?
WILL IT COME UP ON MY DRUG TEST?
This is the most frequent question I get after I tell people about why I love CBD so much. From my research and understanding,CBD will not affect your drug test because these drug tests look for THC in your body and do not test for CBD.
WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE?
Like I mentioned I have flavorless CBD drops, which doesn’t mean they don’t have a flavor, it just means they don’t have an added flavor. They still taste like hemp. There are different types of flavors and forms you can get your CBD in.
ARE THERE ONLY DROPS?
As I mentioned above, there are many forms in which you can take CBD. There are edibles, oil, topical forms. You just have to find your favorite form.
WHERE CAN I BUY CBD?
Lately, CBD has been popping up everywhere. CVS, Walmart, even the flea market! You can find CBD drops and gummies anywhere but other edibles and products you might have to hunt down.
