Long time no talk, huh? It’s been a minute and I’ve been pretty inactive on the website but I’ve recently done a crazy hair color then went back to blonde. I’ve had a lot of questions about my hair over the past year and I decided with this sudden change, I needed to give answers to the most frequently asked questions about going blonde.
HOW MUCH DO YOU SPEND ON YOUR HAIR PER MONTH?
Pricing obviously varies from hairstylist to hairstylist and of course, the length and texture of your hair. Anywhere I go I don’t expect to pay any less than $200 for full color. That includes dying my hair blonde, retouch on my roots and style. After the initial color, I tend to do 2-3 months of just retouch and a gloss which costs me about $80-$100 per visit.
HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN YOUR COLOR?
Maintenance is key with blonde hair. I encourage you to make sure having blonde hair is within your budget and availability. You can check out my post about “What People Don’t Tell You about Going Blonde.” If you’re not willing to put in the work to keep this hair, you initial investment in your hair won’t be worth it in the long run.
As for maintaining, my products and versatility in hairstyles help, as well as washing my hair every 3rd day.
HOW DAMAGED IS YOUR HAIR?
Damage is a big topic of conversation. People are usually surprised when they see my hair and feel that it’s “healthy.” I put it in quotation marks because no matter what I do, processed hair is processed hair and it will feel like it. However, I try to keep my damage to a minimum by not using heat if it’s unnecessary. I also want to mention that because my stylist gradually went lighter, that helped me in the long run to maintain the integrity of my hair. This is 5 years of visits and color!
PRODUCTS

I chose these products because they help with heat protection, color protection, brassiness, and frizziness of my hair.

HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU SPEND AT THE SALON?
Like I’ve mentioned before blonde is not for everyone. You will be at the salon quite a bit of time. On my retouch and gloss days, that’s usually about 3 hours. Where my full-color days can range from 5-6 hours.
WHAT DO I ASK FOR?
When going into the salon I always ask for an ashy blonde with a darker root. This ashy tone ensures my stylist will go towards a white tone rather than a warm tone. The darker root is so that my natural color blends nicely when growing out.
*I am not a hairstylist whatsoever, these are my experiences and products I like.
